The deal
scratched.io is a community-driven golf course review and tracking platform. You can use it for free. By signing in, posting a round, creating a list, or otherwise interacting with the platform you agree to these terms.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your login.
- One person per account. No bots without our written permission.
Your content
You own everything you post: reviews, ratings, lists, photos. By posting it on scratched.io you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and reproduce that content on the platform and in marketing of the platform. You can delete your content any time and we'll stop showing it.
Don't post content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, defamatory, infringing, or spam. We can remove anything that violates these rules.
What we provide
The course database is built from open data (OpenStreetMap), public USGA rating data via GHIN, manual curation, and user contributions. We try to keep it accurate. We don't guarantee it. If you find a mistake, edit the course page or email us.
The service is provided "as is." We're a small team and can't promise 100% uptime, never losing data, or that the service will always work as expected. We will try our best.
Acceptable use
- Don't scrape, mirror, or systematically download the database without our written permission.
- Don't impersonate another person or course.
- Don't use scratched.io to harass other golfers or course operators.
- Don't try to break, exploit, or reverse-engineer the service.
We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.
Trademarks and course logos
Golf course names, logos, and crests displayed on scratched.io are the trademarks of their respective owners. We use them solely to identify the course on its own page and in lists, a nominative-fair-use referential use. We do not sell merchandise bearing these marks, do not imply endorsement or affiliation, and do not modify the marks.
If you are the owner or authorized representative of a golf course and would like to:
- Have your club's logo or imagery removed,
- Replace it with an officially approved version,
- Or claim and edit your course's page
email hello@scratched.io with proof of authorization and we will action the request within a reasonable time (usually within 7 days). The same process applies to DMCA-style notices for any other content on the platform.
Third-party services
We integrate with services like Supabase (auth + database), Netlify (hosting), CARTO (maps), and optionally PostHog (analytics, only when you opt in). Those services have their own terms.
Termination
You can deactivate your account from Settings any time. You can request full deletion by emailing hello@scratched.io. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms; we'll explain why when we do.
Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, scratched.io is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to $50 or what you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is greater. (You probably haven't paid us anything.)
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts in New York County.
Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes we'll surface a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
